Unlike the open frame Colt revolver, Remington's designers created a weapon with a closed construction, which had a huge impact on the strength and reliability of this weapon in the harsh conditions of the Civil War.

The .44-caliber Pedersoli Remington Pattern is a large black-pistol revolver, with a contoured walnut grip, brass breech, and a long 7.5" barrel that provides high accuracy at short and medium distances. The whole operation takes a few seconds and allows for convenient charging and, in the situation of having several drums, also for their quick replacement.
