Frequently Asked Questions

1️⃣ How do I choose a long windshield for recreational shooting?

For recreational shooting, wind guns with uncomplicated design, good accuracy, easy maintenance and simple power supply are recommended. Particularly popular among long-barreled windcheaters for recreational purposes are spring-driven designs (with a break barrel or bottom draw) and adapted to the readily available 4.5 or 5.5 mm caliber. Recommended are models from Razor Gun, Diana, Hatsan or Umarex.

2️⃣ What is the difference between a PCP and a spring-loaded air rifle?

The difference between a PCP and a spring-loaded airgun is based on the drive used in it. In a spring-loaded airgun, the driving force is, as the name suggests, the internal spring, which drives a piston that compresses air, which in turn is responsible for ejecting the shotgun shell at the appropriate speed. In a PCP-type airgun, the compressed air is supplied directly from a reservoir integrated into the airgun, which must be filled in advance using a pump or air bottle. PCP windcheaters also feature greater accuracy and no recoil.

3️⃣ What is the kinetic energy of long wind guns without a permit?

Wind guns, which do not require a permit and have a kinetic energy not exceeding 17 Joules, are models that can be used by adults or younger people under adult supervision. This is a power that has been determined to be relatively safe, and the design of the airgun (gas or spring) is factory-designed not to exceed this range. Wind guns above 17 Joules already require registration to shoot them.

4️⃣ Which models of long wind guns are recommended for beginners?

For beginning air shooting enthusiasts, models with a simple design, easy operation and low recoil are mainly recommended. They make it easier to become familiar with the operation and safety rules when using an airgun. Such features are fulfilled, among others, by air pistols with manual tensioning, such as by breaking the barrel, and those automated with CO2 gas supply. Recommended models are, for example, Razor Gun B1 Scout, Razor Gun B2 Classic, Industry Brand QB 12 or Umarex NXG APX and Hatsan Optima.

5️⃣ What to pay attention to when buying a scope for a long windshield?

First of all, on the quality of the optics and the strength of the scope's barrel. It is better to avoid designs from unknown or untested manufacturers. Very often such scopes have low resistance to impact and recoil that a spring windsock generates, which quickly leads to their failure. It is also worth paying attention to magnification (fixed or variable), objective diameter, type of aiming crosshairs, clip adjustment mechanism or type of mount and compatibility with mounting rails.
