1️⃣ What lighter for survival?
According to many survival enthusiasts, the best choice of lighter for survival purposes will be an incandescent piezo lighter. The flame of an incandescent lighter is resistant to wind, and its large concentrated stream quickly and efficiently ignites the fire starter material. A good survival lighter should have a waterproof design that is resistant to mechanical damage, seals to prevent leakage and evaporation of fuel/gas, and a convenient refill valve. Classic Zippo gasoline lighters and BCB survival matches are also often chosen for survival applications.
2️⃣ What kind of glow lighter?
Unlike classic gas lighters, in a piezoelectric lighter the gas jet is mixed with air in a hidden nozzle and thrown outward with greater force, where it is ignited by an electric spark. The lower part of the flame (the decomposition zone) is hidden inside the lighter (just above the nozzle), making the flame of a piezo lighter strong and extremely resistant to wind.
3️⃣ How long does a lighter burn?
The life of a lighter, of course, depends on the quality of the lighter itself, the intensity with which we use it, the capacity of the gas tank, the quality of the consumables and proper maintenance. One refill of a gas lighter should last us about 7-10 days of use in outdoor conditions (lighting a stove, campfire).
