Frequently Asked Questions
1️⃣ What is a shotgun used for?
Shotgun pellets are a type of ammunition used for shooting a windgun. There are 2 basic types of shot: diabolo (for furrowed barrels) and BB ball shot (for smooth barrels). The shotgun shells are selected depending on the caliber of the air rifle. The most popular are windcheaters in calibers: 4.5 mm. 5.5 mm 6.35 mm, etc. Diabolo shot is made of lead, steel is used for BB shot.
2️⃣ Does the shotgun pierce the skin?
A shotgun shell fired from an air rifle can reach an energy of up to 17 J. Such energy is sufficient to pierce exposed skin and seriously injure, especially when hitting delicate parts of the body, i.e. the neck, face, eyes. A shotgun is unable to cause harm if it hits the body protected by a thick layer of clothing, but never shoot or aim a windgun at people or animals.
3️⃣ How much does shot cost?
The prices of shotgun shells, of course, depend on their quality, manufacturer and type. Buying a 4.46 mm BB steel shot of 1,500 rounds, we must expect to spend about 20 zlotys. A good-quality 4.5 mm diabolo shot also costs about PLN 20, but the package contains only 500 shots. Relatively the most expensive is the 5.5 mm shot, as we will pay more than 20 zlotys for 250 shots in this caliber.
