Frequently Asked Questions

1️⃣ Is sport shooting expensive?

Is sport shooting expensive? As with any demanding hobby, we have to reckon with expenses. The annual fee in a shooting club, depending on the region of Poland, ranges from 300 to 1000 zlotys. The cost of joining the club ranges from 200 to 500 zlotys. If we want to apply for a firearms permit, e.g. for sporting purposes, the cost associated with going through the full formal way with examinations and applications (not including expenses related to training) is about 3000-4000 PLN. To this should be added the purchase of weapons, ammunition and a S1-class safe.

2️⃣ How much does a shooting club membership cost?

The cost of joining a shooting club ranges from 200 to 500 zlotys. The annual fee in a shooting club, depending on the region of Poland, ranges from 300 to 1000 zlotys. To these costs must be added the purchase of ammunition and training.

3️⃣ With what weapons at the range?

We will find out what kind of weapons we can shoot at a particular range in its regulations. Typically, at most shooting ranges we can shoot air rifles, .22 LR sidearms, centerfire pistols and revolvers, and smoothbore weapons of 12-gauge. Many ranges also exclude the possibility of shooting 7.62 NATO weapons and do not allow the use of bullets with energy above 3,600 J. Therefore, before entering the shooting axis, it is advisable to read the rules and regulations of a particular shooting range in detail.

4️⃣ How much ammunition for the competition?

The amount of ammunition we need to bring with us to a competition depends, of course, on the amount and form of competition we want to compete in. In target shooting, we usually fire a certain number of shots, such as 3 test shots and 20 rated shots. In IPSC competitions, we often shoot until we hit the target, resulting in much higher ammunition consumption. Much depends on our skills and experience in competitions. Less experienced shooters and those who train less frequently for competitions should not take only the minimum amount intended to be fired in a given competition. In the beginning, it is advisable to carry a stock increased by 30-50%.
