1️⃣ How long does a chemical light shine?
The duration of the chemical light depends on both the design of the model we use and the environmental conditions. If the chemlight is used in cold conditions, the glow period can be significantly extended.
2️⃣ What is in the glow stick?
Chemical lights in most cases use two chemical compounds, when combined, a chemoluminescent effect is obtained. The tube contains diphenyl oxalate mixed with various dyes depending on the desired color of the light. The glass ampoule inside it, on the other hand, hides perhydrol, which, when broken, mixes with the contents, the tube activating its effect.
3️⃣ Is chemical light disposable?
Yes - chemical light uses an irreversible chemical reaction of the compounds it contains to work. For this reason, after its course, it irretrievably loses the ability to emit light. However, it is possible to slow down the reaction and thus prolong the luminescence by placing the light at a low temperature.
