1️⃣ Is a machete legal in Poland?
The purchase and possession of a machete in Poland is, of course, fully legal, just like any other knife. The Law on Arms and Ammunition of May 21, 1999. Recognizes a machete only as a dangerous tool (like a knife) - and not as a weapon, thus the purchase, possession and use of a machete does not require a permit. However, it is worth remembering Article 50a § 1 of the Code of Offenses: "Whoever possesses a knife, machete or other similarly dangerous object in a public place, and the circumstances of its possession indicate an intention to use it to commit a crime, shall be punished by arrest, restriction of liberty or a fine of not less than PLN 3,000...."
2️⃣ What is the best machete?
The choice of machete depends primarily on its purpose and the budget you have. Currently, the most popular types of machetes for survival are parang, golok and kukri machetes. If the machete is to accompany us while hiking in a dense forest or we want to use it to cut down brush, it is worth choosing a bush or panga machete. A good machete should have a full tang construction, a carbon steel blade, and the right size for efficient cutting and at the same time comfortable carrying. Among the most popular products are Gerber, Joker and Kershaw machetes.
3️⃣ What machete for defense?
For self-defense, it is advisable to use legal tools in the form of pepper spray, kubotan, telescopic baton, rubber bullet guns and stun gun. By using a machete for self-defense, we can be charged with exceeding the limits of necessary defense. Unlike the aforementioned self-defense tools, a machete is a tool whose use can gamble with an attacker's life. It is important to remember that if the attacker's health is compromised, we must provide first aid or call for medical assistance.
