Frequently Asked Questions
1️⃣ What is the kubotan used for?
The classic kubotan takes the form of a blunt-ended rigid rod about 15 cm long, which in self-defense can be used to inflict blows and pressure on sensitive areas of the body, e.g. joints, bones, respiratory plexus. Kubotan is a legal self-defense tool that can be carried with you in the form of, for example, a key ring.
2️⃣ Is it legal to own a Kubotan in PL?
Kubotan or yawara is a tool, the possession of which is fully legal in Poland and does not require a permit. However, it should be remembered that kubotan can be used only in the framework of necessary defense. The tool has no sharp edges, so it allows you to put pressure on sensitive points of the body and to deliver blows, for example, to the nerve plexus, joints and bones.
3️⃣ Is kubotan effective?
The effectiveness of the kubotan depends on only one factor, it is, of course, the training of the person using it. If one wants to defend oneself effectively with a kubotan, it is necessary to receive training in the use of the kubotan. Possession of the tool itself, without the ability to use it, will be as effective as possession of a weapon, without experience in its use. For those who train in martial arts, the kubotan increases their potential, while those who have no such experience will certainly be more effective in the event of an incident on the street after taking the appropriate course.
