Frequently Asked Questions

1️⃣ Pepper gas - How to use?

The best technique for using pepper gas, of course, is the surprise method. In the direction of the unsuspecting attacker's face, we aim with the nozzle outlet and press the gas ejection button. We try to apply the substance primarily to the face of the aggressor. When using gas in the form of a cloud, we must remember to avoid spraying the gas against the wind, because then we will certainly feel the effects ourselves. Gas in the form of a gel can be precisely applied, so it will be great for self-defense in a small and tight space. The amount of gas we should apply to the attacker depends on the escalation of the threat and the aggressor's resistance to capsaicin.

2️⃣ What kind of pepper spray?

When choosing a pepper gas, it is worth paying attention to the concentration and sharpness of capsaicin (expressed in SHU units), the form of gas ejection (cone or jet) and the capacity of the thrower. An effective pepper gas thrower, such as Walther Pro Secur, contains a 10% OC (oleoresin capsicum) solution with a sharpness of as much as 2 million SHU. Pepper gas in stream or gel form is less susceptible to side gusts of wind and can be precisely applied. Gas in cloud/cone form, on the other hand, has a larger field of fire. A small gas (e.g., 16 ml) is easy to carry and conceal in the hand, but a 50 ml hand-held thrower has a greater range and more gas for defense.

3️⃣ What neutralizes pepper spray?

The best way to neutralize pepper gas is with special decontamination wipes soaked in a natural soothing agent, which immediately provides cool relief, eliminates burning skin, irritation and watery eyes. Pepper gas-covered skin can also be washed with water, soapy water, milk or saline. To clean the eyes, we can apply standard eye drops.

4️⃣ Pepper gas - What is it?

Pepper gas or handheld gas thrower is an effective means of temporary incapacitating effect, which in the attacker almost immediately causes painful burning of the skin, intense tearing of the eyes and irritation of the respiratory tract combined with agonizing coughing. The thrower contains an active substance (OC capsaicin solution), which is ejected under pressure in the direction of the aggressor. An attacker treated with sharp pepper gas has a reduced ability of perception, and thanks to unpleasant stimuli that cause disorientation, he is unable to take aggressive actions.
