With permits for weapons for sporting purposes, we can buy and legally own several types of weapons of different calibers. According to the Law on Weapons and Ammunition, the following weapons are considered to be sports weapons: side-ignition weapons with threaded barrels of up to 6 mm caliber, central ignition weapons with threaded barrels of up to 12 mm caliber, smoothbore weapons adapted to shooting only with black powder (smoke). Having a permit for a weapon for sporting purposes, we can own practically any type of sidearm in caliber up to 6 mm, central ignition up to 12 mm caliber, smoothbore weapons in any caliber and black-powder weapons also in any caliber. The only restriction is the mode of fire. Weapons for sporting purposes can only shoot single-fire-that is, they must not be able to shoot in series or continuous fire. A sportsman with a sports weapon permit can therefore buy a typical sports pistol such as a Margolin, a service Glock 17, a civilian AR-15 or Kalashnikov carbine (without continuous fire), and a Sako TRG-22 sniper rifle.
