The 79 mm long blade is made of 7Cr13MoV stainless steel finished with a satin finish. Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, a flat grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, the knife has good cutting properties and penetrates easily. The knife uses a slip-joint mechanism, a partial locking mechanism that holds the blade in place in both the folded and unfolded positions.
Unlike a typical slip-joint, however, the Parley 4384 features two steel stop balls (on either side of the blade) for added safety when carrying and using the knife. Due to the fact that the blade can be folded, using little force, slip-joint knives are not considered knives with a locking blade. The blade is unfolded in using two hands, using a classic nail cutout. This solution has been used for many years in pocket knives, among others, and allows the knife to be carried and used in most EU countries.
