TheKershaw Launch 7 7900CF is a futuristic automatic knife, designed by Tim Galyean, featuring a CPM MagnaCut supersteel blade, a discreet button for striking anodized aluminum lin ers equipped with carbon fiber stakes.
The Launch 7 7900CF is one of Kershaw's most distinctive automatic knives, all thanks to its industrial-style facings and minimalist blade.
The blade in the Kershaw Launch 7 7900CF knife was created from high-quality American tool steel
Theknife has a 94mm long blade, made of super CPM MagnaCut steel produced with powder technology. The main difference between CPM MagnaCut steel and other stainless steels is the amount of chromium. The elimination of chromium carbides from the steel's composition has resulted in a fine microstructure, making CPM MagnaCut much easier to sharpen compared to steels with similar wear resistance.
CPM MagnaCut combines the strength of CPM-4V, the corrosion resistance of CPM-20CV, the retention of CPM-CruWear/ CPM-4V, and an impressive hardness of as much as 62-64 HRC, making it now considered one of the world's best steels used in factory-made knives.
Utility head
The slim blade with a symmetrical Clip Point profile is finished with a Stonewashed finish, which prevents minor scratches during use.
Thanks to the use of a sharp hilt, a flat grind and a cutting edge with a gently rounded line, the knife penetrates easily and has excellent cutting properties. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Automatic unfolding
The most important feature of the automatic knife, is its extremely comfortable and easy unfolding system.
Unlike models with an assisted head, in an automatic knife unfolding the blade requires only pressing a button, which is responsible for releasing the lock and activating the internal spring.
Folding the blade requires pressing the button again and manually retracting the blade. Such functionality makes "automatics" very popular among soldiers, uniformed services personnel and the rapidly growing group of edc enthusiasts.
The release button is embedded in a milled cutout, so it does not protrude above the handle, which in turn effectively prevents accidental unfolding of the blade. When using an automatic knife, it is recommended to exercise extreme caution and prudence.
3D aluminum handle
Theknife has ergonomic liners made of anodized aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum that form a monolithic unit with the backspacer. The aluminum facings are equipped with carbon fiber inserts, which give a distinctive and original look to the whole design. Thanks to precise 3D machining, the handle has a very striking design and excellent grip, provided by finger cutouts and aggressive contouring.
Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is made possible by the standard clip, which can be switched to the other side.
