The blade is made of excellent CPM- D2 steel hardened to 60-62 HRC. CPM-D2 is a powdered variant of air-hardened D2 steel, but with much better retention and modified carbide microstructure, which makes the blade eminently wear-resistant, impressively long in sharpness and relatively easy to sharpen.
Such parameters make CPM- D2 a great alternative to much more expensive super steels, especially if you don't have a sizable budget. However, it is worth remembering to properly maintain the knife, so that the knife will serve reliably for many years. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
