We have to offer a brand new, high-quality knife from the French brand
Opinel , known worldwide for their excellent products. Their tradition dates back to 1890, when Joseph Opinel of St-Jean-de-Maurienne developed a knife on the model of shepherd's boots. In 1911 it was awarded at an exhibition in Turin. And so began its popularity, thanks to which even Piccaso himself carved with it. Its small price and good quality brought it worldwide recognition. Inherent in every Opinel is the famous logo etched on the blade. A hand, a crown and the inscription "OPINEL France." The three-fingered hand - because relics - the three fingers of John the Baptist - have been kept in the local cathedral since the 6th century. The crown, on the other hand, is still preserved from the time when Sabaudia was a principality. To this day, the emblem can be seen on every blade of the company - from a small pendant to a huge Geant (Giant) with a 22 centimeter long blade.
The thin blade with a flat grind is factory sharpened very well. Made of carbon steel (carbone) or stainless steel (inox) it is embedded in a beechwood handle. The unfolded blade is locked by the 1955 patented virobloc (it is locked by a rotating ring). Models 02 through 05 do not have a virobloc. The carbon steel blade requires more care. After each use it should be thoroughly dried and wiped with olive oil. The main advantage of carbon steel is easier sharpening than stainless steel (inox). Stainless steel is more convenient because it does not need as much care. Useful for hiking, fishing, hunting, etc.
The
knife is ideal for a gift.
