TheSilky Katanaboy 650-4 is a saw whose name alludes to the traditional Japanese sword, which took some 1,000 years to develop from the very early forms of the 6th century to the full 16th century katana. It is this attention to the tradition of forging steel that has created a modern saw that can handle any type of wood, passing through thick branches with the ease of a samurai sword blade.
The Katanaboy series is the largest saws offered by Japanese manufacturer Silky. The combination of modern technology and tradition makes the Katanaboy saws achieve high strength and sharpness that results in high cutting efficiency.
The blade of the Silky Katanaboy 650-4 saw is made of high-carbon steel, and its shape is precisely laser-cut. The surface of the saw is chrome plated, which prevents rusting and protects it from harmful external factors. The main advantages of the Katanaboy saw are the four-plane ground blade teeth and the ergonomic and elongated handle. To prevent the teeth from breaking off, hardening was used to harden only the edges of the teeth, while the rest of the teeth are soft and flexible. Precision grinding in the shape of an hourglass, prevents the saw from blocking during cutting.
The Silky Katanaboy 650-4 handsaw is equipped with a 650 mm long blade with 5 teeth per 30 mm of blade length. The saw is folded in such a way that the sharp teeth are hidden in the handle, and the set comes with a carrying case. This allows you to carry the saw safely to the job site.
Technologies
4-column teeth
When the teeth are not induction hardened, they can be filed with a special Silky file.
The advantage of nickel is that the material flows well into the edges. As a result, the nickel coating is uniform throughout the blade, providing a smooth surface and less material loss. Nickel plating is applied after the teeth have been ground into the blade. This keeps the teeth sharp for a long time and protects them from rust.
Non-spaced teethThe teeth are precision ground in the blade, each with 4 cutting surfaces. The teeth are "unspaced" so that the cutting surface cuts straight into the wood, destroying about 50% fewer wood cells. The blades are honed biconcave: the lower part of the blade (near the teeth) is thickest, the upper part is slightly thinner, and the blade is thinnest in the middle. This design has several advantages: Less power needed for sawing, discharges sawdust effortlessly (it won't get stuck in the wood), very clean saw cut - no breaking or tearing of the wood creates a very accurate, smooth saw cut.
GOM rubber gripGOM's rubber grip absorbs vibrations while sawing and provides an excellent grip, even in wet conditions or when wearing gloves. What's more, this handle always keeps you pleasantly warm, even in extremely cold temperatures.
Silky technologyThe blades are made of Japanese Authentic Premium steel and laser-cut. The blades are of unparalleled quality: they are very hard and durable, but at the same time remain flexible thanks to a soft metal core. Hard and wear-resistant - The chemical composition of the metal combined with a unique heating and cooling process determines the high hardness of the metal. The high carbon content leads to high wear resistance, so the sharpness remains for a very long time. Soft and flexible - By forging the saws in such a way, the core of the saw tooth consists of soft metal, so that the saw remains flexible and easily grips the wood.
