The Benchmade537GY Bailout is a very lightweight and rugged "black class" tactical knife equipped with a CPM-3V powder steel tanto blade, an aluminum tang and enlarged Grivory plastic liners.
The Benchmade Bailout has a typically tactical design, highlighted by the black color scheme of the blade and liners, as well as the shape of the blade. The knife uses an 86mm blade with a Japanese tanto profile, made of high-quality CPM-3V tool steel.
The used blade shape provides increased tip strength while maintaining high cutting performance.
The CPM-3V grade with its parameters approaches the properties of premium S7 and A9 steels and is an excellent alternative to A2, D2 and CPM M4. Unlike classic powder steels, CPM 3V is not a stainless steel, so it is worth taking proper care of the blade and maintaining it regularly.
The blade has been coated with a gray DLC coating, which has a very high abrasion resistance, and also protects the steel from corrosion. The blade can be conveniently unfolded with one hand, thanks to a double-sided peg (made of anodized aluminum), thus allowing right- and left-handed people to operate the knife comfortably.
The head lock is, of course, Axis-lock, the flagship mechanism of the Benchmade brand, valued for its great resistance to stress, insensitivity to dirt and ease of use.
Thanks to the use of enlarged Grivory plastic liners, the knife's design is extremely light (58 g) and can be comfortably used with gloves or by people with larger hands.
The non-slip texture of the handle and its widening at the base ensure a firm grip on the knife, and prevent the hand from moving during work. The wide clip, with an option to translate (left/right), allows the knife to be carried in a pocket or in a tactical armband.
The handle is finished with an aluminum insert, which can act as a hook for a rope or a head for hammer blows.
