The Airlock 1385 model is an everyday use folder, from a line of affordable knives with a modern design, made of 4Cr14 steel and equipped with the SpeedSafe system responsible for assisting the opening of the blade.
Proven steel
The 76mm long blade is made of sturdy 4Cr14 steel hardened to 55-57 HRC. This Chinese stainless steel is characterized by high corrosion resistance, relatively short-lived sharpness, but this is perfectly compensated by the ease and speed of sharpening.
Such properties of the steel make the Kershaw Airlock 1385 intended for less demanding users and people who are just beginning their adventure with the outdoors and the issue of edc.
The light weight, handy size and utilitarian nature of the knife make this model perfect for simple daily tasks such as at work, at home, on a hike and in the woods.
Functional blade
Theslender blade with a utilitarian drop-point profile has a matte stonewashed (abrasive stone bath)finish, which effectively masks minor scratches or abrasions of the blade incurred during use.
Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, concave grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, the knife has good cutting and penetrating properties, and the blade does not wedge in the material being cut.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 2.8 mm, which is a compromise between the strength and functionality of the knife in everyday work. Transverse milling cutters made on the back of the blade allow the fingers to stand firmly while working.
Theknife has several decorative accents that effectively attract the eye, including a cutout in the handle (reducing the weight of the design), a striking bolt (pivot) and a narrow "pencil" clip with the possibility of attaching to both sides of the handle.
Convenient operation
The blade is unfolded with one hand using a milled flipper, a solution convenient for both right- and left-handed users. This convenient method of opening the blade makes the use of the knife extremely convenient and easy.
Assist mechanism for unfolding the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism. When the flipper flipper is pressed or the peg is leveraged, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Robust locking mechanism
Once the blade is unfolded, it is securely locked with a liner-lock mechanism. The steel locking bar provides a high level of security, and its operation is very intuitive and convenient. A reliable lock is an important element calling for the functionality and safety of the folding knife.
Carrying clip
Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is facilitated by a spring clip with the ability to attach in 2 positions. The back of the handle has a hole for attaching a rope or braided paracord, which are very popular among many knife owners.
Ergonomic linings
The knife's handle is formed by liners made of lightweight and durable fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). The profiled shape of the grip and fine texturing make the knife very secure in the hand and comfortable to use.
For the rigidity of the entire structure are responsible for the steel inserts with a distinctive cutout on the hilt.
