TheKershaw Leek 1660Cu is a popular everyday knife that features an American 154CM stainless steel blade, a blade assist mechanism and stylish brass liners.
Composite steel
TheKershaw Leek was created with everyday use in mind, which is clearly emphasized by its compact size, lightweight construction and typically functional style.
Theknife has a 76mm long blade, made of hard 154CM tool steel, which is subjected to the optimal hardening for edc knives to a hardness of 58-60 HRC. 154CM is a molybdenum-added stainless steel with a very high carbon content, which can be described as an improved version of 440C.
The American steel is particularly valued for its resistance to corrosion and wear (high impact strength), long maintenance of working sharpness and relative ease of sharpening.
Theslim blade with an aggressive wharncliffe profile has a uniform, matte stonewashed (abrasive stone bath) finish. Thanks to the use of a narrow hilt, concave grind and a cutting edge with an almost straight line, the knife has excellent cutting properties, and the blade does not wedge in the material.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Comfort of use
The wedge can be unfolded with one hand in two ways: with a milled flipper or with a two-sided peg, allowing you to choose the method according to your preferences.
Both solutions are convenient for both right- and left-handed users, and also allow comfortable operation of the knife with gloves. The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism.
When the flipper flipper is pressed, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Two locks
A monolithic frame-lock, considered one of the most robust locking mechanisms, effectively protects the blade from accidental folding. The main lock is supported by an additional Tip Safety Lock mechanism.
A slide lock located at the top of the knife prevents accidental opening of the blade in the folded position.
Convertible clip
Discreetly carrying the knife in a pocket is made possible by a high-set clip with mounting options on both sides of the handle. Next to the clip is a hole designed for attaching a decorative braided paracord, which are very popular among most knife owners.
Stylish and elegant handle
This model uses brass liners with a thicker profile, which noticeably increases the weight of the knife. The brass will be covered with a natural patina over time, giving the knife a unique character. The more massive shape of the handle, makes the knife especially appreciated by people with larger hands.
