TheKershaw Grid 2200 is a large folder with tactical styling, featuring a drop-point blade made of 8Cr13MoV steel, a blade assist mechanism and a solid frame-lock.
Rugged stainless steel
The 94mm long blade is made of popular 8Cr13MoV steel hardened to 57-59 HRC. This Chinese steel has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6.
The8Cr13MoV steel blade will be great for everyday use due to its corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is completely sufficient.
Functional blade
The blade with a utilitarian drop point profile, resembling a reverse tanto, is coated with a layer of black oxide, which partially protects the blade from scratches and gives it a tactical look.
Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, concave grind and a gently rounded cutting edge, the knife has good cutting properties, and sharpening it does not pose a problem. The strong tip penetrates easily and is resistant to breakage.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Comfort of use
The blade can be quickly and conveniently unfolded with one hand using an enlarged flipper. The action takes place in a very natural and easy way and allows both right- and left-handed people to use the knife comfortably. On the back of the blade deep frets were made, which provide a stable point of support for the thumb during cutting.
Assist mechanism for unfolding the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism. When the flipper fin is pressed, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready to use in a fraction of a second.
Blade lock
Theintegrated frame-lock, considered one of the most robust locking mechanisms,effectively protects the blade from accidental folding. The lock, like the flipper, can be operated with one hand. A reliable lock is an important element influencing the functionality and safety of a folding knife.
Steel liners
Theknife has profiled stainless steel facings with a titanium-carbon coating, with high corrosion and scratch resistance. The dark gray color of the linings perfectly harmonizes with the black oxidation of the blade, making the knife stand out with a very attractive and modern design.
Everyday carrying of the knife in the pocket is made possible by a standard clip, with the possibility of fastening in 2 positions (left/right side). The element that draws attention is the concave bolt with a black finish.
