TheKershaw Emerson 6034D2 is a versatile folding knife featuring a D2 steel blade, frame-lock and convenient folding system, the result of a collaboration between the Kershaw and Emerson Knives brands.
Kershaw and Emerson Knives have joined forces, resulting in a series of knives that combine the precision and quality of Kershaw's workmanship with the uncompromising functionality of the Emerson brand.
Hard D2 tool steel
The 83mm long blade is made of hard and durable D2 tool steel hardened to 58-60 HRC. D2 is the most corrosion-resistant carbon steel, which is characterized by high abrasion resistance, long maintenance of working sharpness and aggressive cutting.
When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
The wide blade, with a utilitarian clip-point profile, has a double finish: stonewashed on the grind and satin-finished on the top.
Thanks to the strong hilt of a very gentle curve of the edge and concave grind, the blade cuts very smoothly and efficiently, and has no tendency to wedge in the material.
When unfolded, the knife is 197 mm long, the thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is an excellent compromise between carrying comfort, everyday functionality and durability.
The blade unfolds in two ways
The blade can be unfolded with one hand in two ways , i.e. with the help of a moled disk or with the use of a "wave". The disk located on the back of the blade performs the same function as the popular flipper, but with the difference that its operation is done with the thumb.
Emerson's solution is based on a hook-shaped pin that catches the edge of the pocket when the knife is drawn, resulting in spontaneous unfolding of the head.
The disk and the wave catch are symmetrically located, which allows right- and left-handed people to use the knife comfortably.
Safe operation
A monolithic frame-lock equipped with a hardened steel insert effectively protects against accidental folding of the blade, which guarantees reliability and safe operation.
Frame-lock is a solid lock considered one of the most durable locking mechanisms, characterized by resistance to dirt and very comfortable operation.
Comfortable grip
The handle of the knife is formed by linings of sandblasted 410 steel and black G-10 laminate. The profiled shape of the grip, the undercut for fingers and the fine texturing of the composite make the knife very secure in the hand and very comfortable to use.
In the back of the handle there is a hole for attaching a decorative paracord tail, which makes it easier and faster to get the knife out of your pocket. Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a spring clip with mounting options on both sides of the handle.
