TheKershaw Emerson 6054BRNBLK is a very handy folding knife, featuring an 8Cr14MoV steel blade , frame-lock and convenient folding system, the result of a collaboration between the Kershaw and Emerson Knives brands.
Kershaw and Emerson Knives have joined forces, resulting in a series of knives that combine the precision and quality of Kershaw's workmanship with the uncompromising functionality of the Emerson brand.
Proven stainless steel
The 82mm long blade is made of the popular 8Cr14MoV steel hardened to 57-59 HRC. This Chinese steel has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6.
The 8Cr14MoV steel blade will be great for everyday use due to its corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is completely sufficient.
The slim blade with a utilitarian spear-point profile has been coated with black oxide, which partially protects the blade from scratches and corrosion.
Thanks to the use of a strong hilt of a very gentle curvature of the edge and a concave grind , the blade cuts very smoothly and efficiently, and does not tend to wedge in the material.
When unfolded, the knife is 188 mm long, the thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between the durability and functionality of the knife in everyday use.
The blade unfolds in two ways
The blade can be unfolded with one hand in two ways , i.e. with the help of a moled disk or with the use of a "wave". The disk located on the back of the blade performs the same function as the popular flipper, but the difference is that its operation is done with the thumb.
Emerson's solution is based on a hook-shaped pin that catches the edge of the pocket when the knife is drawn, resulting in spontaneous unfolding of the head.
The disk and the wave catch are symmetrically located, which allows right- and left-handed people to use the knife comfortably.
Safe operation
A monolithic frame-lock equipped with a hardened steel insert effectively protects against accidental folding of the blade, which guarantees reliability and safe operation.
Frame-lock is a solid lock considered one of the most durable locking mechanisms, characterized by resistance to dirt and very comfortable operation.
Comfortable grip
The handle of the knife is formed by facings of black-oxidized 410 steel and sand-colored G-10 laminate. The profiled shape of the grip and fine texturing of the composite make the knife very secure in the hand and very comfortable to use.
In the back of the handle there is a hole for attaching a decorative paracord tail, which makes it easier and faster to get the knife out of your pocket. Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a spring clip with mounting options on both sides of the handle.
