Work Sharp Whetstone Sharpener

Product description

Work Sharp Whetstone is a double-sided ceramic sharpener, equipped with a sturdy base with water tank and two-stage angle guides.

Water stone

The Work Sharp Whetstone uses a double-sided water stone of large size, allowing sharpening of both small and large knives.

The fine-grained diglinium trioxide (colloquially aluminum oxide)stone is characterized by high hardness, so it is suitable for sharpening almost any steel used in knife making.

In addition to being highly effective, aluminum oxide is also easy to clean. The water stone requires soaking before use and during sharpening.

To prepare the stone for use, simply immerse it completely in water and leave it for a few minutes or until no more air bubbles form.

High gradations

The double-sided stone has two high gradations of 1000 and 6000. We can use the 1000 gradation to sharpen slightly dulled knives or pre-polish edges.

The 6000 gradation is used for polishing to a so-called mirror finish and giving it a final sharpness. Such functionality makes the Work Sharp Whetstone perfect for sharpening Japanese kitchen knives and precision grinding of other tools.

Solid base

Along with the stone, you get a polymer base, which prevents the stone from moving during sharpening and allows the other side of the stone to be constantly hydrated.

The water that accumulates in the base's reservoir moistens the stone and makes the grated material come off the stone more easily, which contributes to the ease and speed of cleaning.

Interchangeable angle guides

The Work Sharp Whetstone sharpener is equipped with 15° and 17° angle guides (magnetically attached). After applying the knife head to the guide, all you need to do is pull the blade evenly across the sharpening plate at a constant angle.

This simple and practical convenience means that after just a short time, the hand sharpening technique will not give us any trouble. The factory-defined guide angles of 15° and 17° are designed for kitchen knives, filleting knives and precision cutting tools.

After removing the guides, we can, of course, sharpen at another, self-determined angle.
