BCB survival matches are a set of military storm matches, resistant to wind and moisture.
BCB survival matches have NATO specifications, and are used in military survival kits and as part of life raft equipment.
Thanks to an increased amount of special ignition compound, storm matches burn slowly at high temperatures, without burning rapidly like ordinary matches. The ignition compound has been protected with a waterproof layer, so the matches burn in the rain, when wet and in high winds.
The woods have been soaked in liquid paraffin and orthophosphate, which makes them much easier to ignite and means that after the flame is extinguished, the match continues to smolder, spontaneously igniting after a while.
Unlike ordinary matches, storm matches can be ignited from a heat source and a hard and rough surface. To prevent appendage ignition, the heads are coated with a layer of protective compound, which only allows ignition when rubbed off.
