Acerbi's diagnostic test for detecting Lyme disease in a tick "Check Tick" is an effective and simple way to check whether a tick found on our body was a carrier of Lyme disease.
The basis for diagnosing Lyme disease is the onset of symptoms of the disease. One of the first signs is the occurrence of erythema migrans, as this symptom is not present in other forms of the disease. Prompt diagnosis and proper treatment gives you a better chance of avoiding serious health complications.
Have you found a tick? Make sure you're safe.
The#Tick Check is a home test that can detect Lyme spirochetes in a tick in just 10 minutes.
If you've found a tick on your body, after removing it, it's a good idea to check if the arachnid was a carrier of Lyme disease. The Acerbi diagnostic test is based on the PCR reaction, whose high sensitivity guarantees us the reliability and accuracy of the analysis performed.
The #checktick plate test quickly detects bacteria of all types of Lyme disease: B. garinii, B. afzelii, B. burgdorferi sensu stricto and B. spielmanii.
Fast, reliable, safe
Conducting the test does not require expertise, execution is limited to just 5 steps:
- Placing the tick in a test tube and adding 3 drops of reagent
- Crushing the tick with a wooden spatula (until the fluid is discolored)
- Collecting the fluid from the test tube with a pipette
- Applying 3 drops of liquid to the indicated area of the tester
- Waiting 10 minutes to complete the test
Depending on the size of the tick found, the test is carried out according to 2 procedures: "small and medium ticks" or "large ticks" (parasite over 8 mm in size).
Result and interpretation of the test
If 2 red lines appear on the field of the tester (test cassette), it means that the result is positive. The red line in the T (test) area indicates that the tick was a carrier of Lyme disease bacteria (Borrelia antigen detected).
If the level of Borrelia antigens is low, the T line is weaker, but still informs of a positive result for Lyme disease. The second red line in area C (check) informs about the correctness of the test.
A positive test result, means that the tick was a carrier of one of the 4 genotypes of Lyme spirochetes and it is necessary to contact a GP. A negative test result indicates that the tick was not infected with Lyme disease.
