TheKershaw Kingbolt 1346 is a budget edc folder from the Starter Series, featuring an 8Cr13Mov stainless steel blade, proven frame-lock and SpeedSafe assist mechanism.
With its combination of modern design handy size, solid steel and functional design, the Kershaw Kingbolt 1346 will work well as a typical edc knife and an elegant "gentleman's folder".
Stainless steel
TheKershaw Kingbolt 1346 was created with everyday use and light work inmind, which is clearly emphasized by its optimal size, solid construction and typically functional style.
The 82mm long blade is made of the popular 8Cr13MoV steel hardenedto 57-59 HRC. This Chinese steel has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6.
The8Cr13MoV steel blade will be great for everyday use due to its corrosion resistance, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is completely sufficient.
Functional style
The slim blade with a utilitarian drop-point profile has a striking BlackWash finish (black oxidation), which effectively masks any scratches or abrasions to the blade from use.
Thanks to the use of a strong hilt, concave grind and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, the knife has good cutting properties, and the blade does not wedge in the material being cut.
The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Convenient unfolding
The wedge can be unfolded with one hand in two ways: with a milled flipper or with a two-sided peg, allowing you to choose the method according to your preferences.
Both solutions are convenient for both right- and left-handed users, and also allow comfortable operation of the knife with gloves.
Assist mechanism for unfolding the blade
The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism. When the peg is leveraged or the flipper flipper is pressed, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Robust locking mechanism
A monolithic frame-lock, considered one of the most robust locking mechanisms, effectively protects the blade from accidental folding. The lock, like the flipper and peg, can be operated with one hand.
Carry clip
Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by the high-set clip (which cannot be repositioned). There is also a hole on the handle for attaching a decorative paracord braid, which are very popular among most knife owners.
Modern handle
TheKershaw Kingbolt 1346 has straight stainless steel liners, which have a contoured shape and distinctive frets to increase hand grip. The blackwash finish on the blade and handle gives the knife a futuristic style.
