TheBenchmade 590SBK-1 Boost is an all-purpose edc knife featuring a combo blade made of S30V steel, an assisted blade-opening mechanism, a reliable axis-lock and reinforced Versaflex plastic liners.
Exclusive steel
Theknife has a usable 94mm drop-point blade made of American CPM-S30V stainless steel.
Crucible Industries' S30V powder steel is hardened to an optimal hardness of 58-60 HRC, so it maintains a high sharpness for a long time, has high mechanical strength, and is also resistant to corrosion.
Thanks to its high vanadium carbide content, the steel is distinguished by its high impact and wear resistance, as well as its excellent cutting properties. The blade is coated with a layer of black Teflon, which protects the blade from minor scratches.
When choosing a hard steel knife, get a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
Serrated blade
The functionality of the knife is significantly increased by the serrated section of the blade, useful when cutting hard and fibrous materials such as belts, ropes and tapes.
Easy unfolding
The blade can be conveniently and quickly unfolded with one hand using a double-sided peg, providing convenience for both right- and left-handed people.
The opening process is made easier and faster by the assist mechanism. A gentle lift of the double-sided peg activates an internal spring, which dynamically unfolds the blade. Such functionality makes the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Two locks
Responsible for the safety of work is Benchmade's flagship mechanism, the double-sided Axis-lock, valued for its great mechanical strength, resistance to dirt and convenient operation for right- and left-handed users.
The knife features an additional locking mechanism that prevents accidental folding and unfolding of the blade during handling. The slide of the second safety mechanism is located on the back of the handle.
Comfortable handle
The knife has contoured Grivory plastic liners, which are coated with Versaflex thermoplastic elastomer to improve grip. Such a solution ensures a stable grip, high control and comfort in everyday use.
The knife's construction is reinforced by solid steel inserts (liners).
Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is facilitated by a high-set clip, which, if necessary, can be attached on both sides of the liners.
The manufacturer also did not forget to use a hole for a paracord rope, which is commonly used to make decorative tails and handles for easy retrieval of the knife.
