TheVortex Spitfire HD Gen II 5x is a new generation prismatic collimator sight designed for carbines powered by 5.56 ammunition.
The Vortex Spitfire HD Gen II is a worthy successor to the popular prismatic sight. In the new generation, the optics, the body of the device and the sighting reticle have been upgraded. The result is a lighter and smaller collimator with 5× magnification, using HD optics and an AR-BDC MOA reticle that takes into account the ballistics of 5.56 ammunition.
Changes from the 1st gen Spitfire Prism sight:
- aiming point adjustment range increased to 200 MOA (vertically and horizontally),
- smaller weight and size of the sight,
- AR-BDC4 sighting reticle scaled for 5.56 ammunition.
AR-BDC4 target reticle.
With the BDC reticle, the shooter can make quick distance changes without having to apply additional corrections to the reels. The easy-to-read, high-contrast re ticle allows both precise and fast shooting in a variety of lighting conditions. The reticle provides a wide field of view of 7.8/ 100 m. It consists of a central dot of 1 MOA, a surrounding incomplete ring of 1.5 MOA, and a vertical bar with 4 horizontal markers allowing corrections to be applied from 300 to 600 yards (274-548 m). Grid adjustments are made with open-design reels. One click changes the reticle position by 1 MOA. The full adjustment range is as much as 200 MOA vertically and horizontally. The Spitfire HD Gen II sight uses a focusable eyepiece designed to get a sharply focused reticle quickly and easily.
The sight is powered by a CR2032 battery mounted on the side of the unit. To extend the operating time, the sight uses an automatic shut-off system after 14 hours (from the last time the button was pressed).
The set includes lens caps, torx multifunction wrench, cleaning cloth, CR2032 battery and 2 mounts: high 1/3 co-witness (40 mm) for carbines and low (27 mm).
The Spitfire HD Gen II 5× sight is additionally equipped with an MRDS (Mounting Micro Red Dot Sights ) mounting platform that allows installation of a Vortex Viper or Vortex Venom collimator.
Optics
- HD optics - new optics optimized to provide exceptional resolution, high light transmission and reduced chromatic aberration
- Brightness adjustment - 12 levels
- Night vision compatibility - 2 lowest brightness settings dedicated to night vision
Design
- Water resistance - O-ring seals prevent the ingress of moisture, dust and debris, ensuring reliable performance in any environment.
- Shock resistance - design to withstand weapon recoil and drops.
- Fog and dew resistance - dry nitrogen filling prevents internal evaporation of optics over a wide temperature range.
- Matte finish - anodizing protects against corrosion and reduces light reflections, helping to mask the shooter's position.
- AR-BDC4 sighting reticle - designed with the ballistics of 5.56 ammunition in mind, the reticle provides fast target entry and the ability to quickly apply us corrections at distances up to 650 meters.
