"Subarctica" is a colorful account of an expedition to Swedish Lapland, which the book's author made in 2020.
Rafal Wierzbicki - the author and the main protagonist of the reading, takes the reader on an extraordinary journey in the classic style, during which he struggled alone with nature and its elements for a month devoid of means of communication and modern equipment.
The author made the journey into the unknown without modern equipment, using a canvas tent, an ancient boat and a wool blanket. During this dangerous subarctic journey, he was deprived of comforts, communication and human companionship.
His only weapon was his photographic equipment, which allowed him to capture frames of this magical adventure. The book contains 48 photographs from the expedition, printed on chalk paper.
"Subarctica" is not only an account of the journey among the Arctic wilderness and lakes, it is first and foremost an attempt to recreate the extreme emotions accompanying the traveler during the lonely and risky expedition.
