Walther AFW 2 is a compact folding knife from the Adventure Folder Wood series, created for outdoor enthusiasts and people looking for affordable tools made of quality materials.
The Walther AFW 2 has a unique design that impressively combines modernity, classics and great functionality.
Weather-resistant steel
The 71 mm long blade is made of Japanese stainless steel AUS 8. The properties of this steel are similar to 440C (including increased carbon content), so it is hardened to a hardness of 57-59 HRC. Resistance to wear and corrosion, good retention (retention of sharpness) and speed of sharpening make the AUS-8 steel knife perfect for outdoor and everyday use. To sharpen AUS-8 steel you do not need an advanced sharpener, a universal travel sharpener such as Lansky BladeMedic is sufficient. The blade is finished with a satin (polishing) technique, which eliminates glare and gives a classic look. The long blade with a utilitarian clip-point profile has a high concave grind, a sturdy tip, and a cutting edge with a gentle belly curve, so the knife provides good cutting properties and high penetration.
Easy disassembly of the blade
On the Walther AFW 2, we can quickly unfold the blade with one hand by leveraging the two-sided clip on the back (modified thumb disc) with our thumb. This method is convenient for both right- and left-handed users.
Strong locking mechanism
When unfolded, the blade is locked with a back-lock mechanism. When the blade is unfolded, the locking mechanism, located on the crest of the knife, collapses into a notch in the back of the blade. Releasing the locking mechanism requires pushing in a strip visible in the cutout of the handle.
Wooden handle
The knife has elegant walnut wood facings with a matte finish. The sheaths have a contoured shape, with a prominent finger cutout, which effectively improves the knife's grip and comfort.
The knife's handle is reinforced by solid steel liners (inserts to which the liners are attached). To carry the knife, we can use a leather belt p ouch (fastened with a fastener) and a high-set steel clip (one-sided).
