TheLeupold VX-3HD 1.5-5x20 30mm iR CDS-ZL FireDot is a versatile running scope for hunters and sport shooters, featuring the Elite Optical System, Twilight Hunter illuminated target reticle, MST motion sensor and ZeroStop system to protect against accidental zero changes. An excellent choice for dynamic shooting at both short range and medium range.
Highlights of the Mark VX-3HD series:
Elite Optical System:
- Unrivaled brightness even in the most difficult conditions,
- Enhanced Twilight Efficiency,
- Enhances image brightness in low-light environments (approximately 30 minutes),
- Eliminates image blur and stray light reflections,
- Premium lenses provide edge-to-edge sharpness,
- enhances image depth and contrast.
Optional Custom Dial barrel system - when shooting at long range, eliminates the need to apply aiming point corrections (aiming over the target) due to distance, gravity and wind effects.
Lightweight and durable construction - disperses recoil energy evenly
Leupold Punisher durability tests - the scopes undergo rigorous testing on the Punisher simulation machine, during which they are subjected to 5,000 recoil tests. The machine generates shocks with an energy 3× greater than the recoil of a .308 rifle
30mm tube - provides a greater range of aiming reticle adjustment
Fast Focus - unscrewable lever for changing magnification
Robust construction - tube resistant to moisture, dew, extreme temperatures, elevation changes
Secondary sight ing reticle - provides universal use
125 MOA adjustment range - increased adjustment range
Modern technologies
The Leupold VX-3HD 1.5-5x20 is a compact tactical-fighter scope with a length of 243 mm and a weight of just 344 g. The scope can be used on both hunting rifles and semi-automatic rifles.
The scope has a 30 mm diameter aluminum (6061-T6) tube, which, unlike the inch version, provides a much greater range of adjustment of the reticle settings of 125 MOA/ 36.4 MRAD vertically and horizontally. On the eyepiece there is a moleskin ring with a twist-off pin used for quick and convenient magnification changes. The scope's tube is filled with dry nitrogen gas, which eliminates the effects of thermal shock, reduces gas diffusion inside the scope and eliminates the problem of internal lens evaporation.
The scope underwent rigorous testing on the Punisher simulation machine, during which the scopes were subjected to 5,000 recoil endurance tests. The machine generates shocks with an energy of 3× the recoil of a .308 rifle.
Dimensions

Bright and clear image
The American manufacturer Leupold places special emphasis on image quality and brightness. The optics use high-resolution calcium fluoride lenses, which ensures incredible image clarity and sharpness at all magnification levels. The outer surfaces of the lenses are covered with a durable coating, which effectively protects the optics from scratches, reduces the settlement of water, dirt and fingerprints.
The scope's high brightness, 3× magnification and field of view (from 4.29 to 1.53 m/ 100 m) allow precise observation and fast shooting at various distances even in difficult lighting conditions.
Clear sighting reticle
The scope uses a Twilight Hunter sighting reticle with an illuminated aiming point. The Twilight Hunter crosshair consists of 4 arms with a thickness of 3.4 MOA, which from the midpoint transitions into 0.4 MOA hairline beams. The easy-to-read, high-contrast reticle and illuminated red dot allow for both precision and rapid shooting in a variety of lighting conditions. The FireDot fiber-optic aiming point automatically moves the shooter's sights to the center of the reticle, making target entry quick and instinctive. Illumination adjustments (7 levels) are made using the side Push Button.
The first 4 settings are for use in low light conditions, the others for use in sunlight. The adjustment range allows comfortable operation regardless of lighting conditions and time of day.
CDS system
The scope uses an innovative CDS (Custom Dial System) that allows the shooter to adjust the parameters of the elevation barrel to match the distance and ballistics of specific ammunition. CDS-ZL2 is a low-profile adjustment turret that prevents accidental changes in settings. The Zero Lock locking system provides easy resetting of the settings with the push of a button. Once the CDS is properly configured, after just a short training session, we can shoot accurately and reproducibly at long distances without the need to use an elevation table (changing the aiming point).
Motion Sensor MST
Thanks to Motion Sensor Technology (MST), the backlight goes to sleep (turns off) after 5 minutes of inactivity. Re-activating the dot illumination requires only moving the rifle. The advantage of this solution is the impressive battery life. The backlight control circuit also warns of low battery status (flickering of the sight), indicating that the battery needs to be replaced.
