TheKershaw Random Leek 1660R is a compact everyday knife that features a Swedish 14C28N steel blade, a blade assist mechanism and the proven frame-lock.
Lightweight and handy design
The Kershaw Leek was created with everyday use in mind, which is clearly emphasized by its small size, lightweight construction and typically functional style. The 76mm long blade is made of Swedish 14C28N stainless steel hardened to 58-60 HRC. Due to the high purity of the alloy, 14C28N steel is distinguished by its high hardness, corrosion resistance and, importantly for the user, long retention of working sharpness.
The slim blade with an aggressive wharncliffe profile has a uniform matte sandblasted finish. Thanks to the use of a narrow stab, concave grind and a cutting edge with an almost straight line, the knife has excellent cutting properties, and the blade does not wedge in the material. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work.
Comfort of use
The wedge can be unfolded with one hand in two ways: with a milled flipper or with a pin on both sides, allowing you to choose the method according to your preferences. Both solutions are convenient for both right- and left-handed users, and also allow comfortable operation of the knife with gloves. The opening process is facilitated by the SpeedSafe assist mechanism. When the flipper flipper is pressed, the assist mechanism activates an internal spring that dynamically unfolds the blade, making the knife ready for use in a fraction of a second.
Two locks
A monolithic frame-lock, considered one of the most robust locking mechanisms, effectively protects the blade from accidental folding. The main lock is supported by an additional Tip Safety Lock mechanism. A slide lock located at the top of the knife prevents accidental opening of the blade in the folded position.
Convertible clip
Discreetly carrying the knife in your pocket is made possible by a high-set clip with mounting options on both sides of the handle. Next to the clip is a hole designed for attaching a decorative braided paracord, which are very popular among most knife owners.
Simple and stylish
The knife's handle is formed by 410 stainless steel facings, gently contoured to the hand. A sandblasting method was used to finish the grip as well as the blade, giving the knife a very stylish and elegant line.
