TheMil-Tec illuminated metal olive compass is a modernized military compass for determining azimuth and reading directions, equipped with a red light emitting diode and a durable aluminum housing.
Rugged construction
The Mil-Tec compass has a sturdy body made of aircraft-grade aluminum, so it effectively protects the glass and sighting instruments from damage. The compass has a metal locking pawl to prevent accidental unfolding during a fall. The locking pawl also serves as a lanyard or cord attachment.
Precise direction finding
The compass uses a bearing-mounted dial with an integrated Power Magnet needle. The contrasting dial and north marking with a reflective symbol allow the compass directions to be read in the dark. The dial uses 360° and 65° gradu ations with a classic wind rose.
A magnifying glass and quarter markings on the glass make it easier to read the scale and determine the intermediate direction. The aiming instruments, i.e., the bow tie and the scimitar with magnifying glass in the base, allow precise direction determination and facilitate azimuth reading. The compass, of course, has a rotating ring necessary for determining azimuth values in the field.
LED illumination
This model additionally features red LED backlighting to make it easier to use the compass at night or in residual light.
