TheZero Tolerance ZT 0990 is a modern folder with a skeletonized construction, which features a ball bearing CPM-20CV steel head, carbon fiber liners, liner-lock and an exposed bridge on the back.
The ZT 0990 was modeled after the legendary award-winning 0999 knife, which featured a distinctive open-back design.
Premium steel
The 83mm long blade is made of CPM-S20V powder steel hardened to a hardness of 59-61 HRC. CPM-S20V is an American "super steel" whose parameters correspond to Bohler's elite M390 stainless steel. Thanks to its high chromium content and high amount of vanadium carbides, the steel has exceptionally good corrosion and wear resistance, and very long sharpness retention. When choosing a knife made of hard highly hardened steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
Theslim drop-point profile head has a matte stonewashed finish, effectively masking scratches from use. Thanks to the strong tip, gentle edge curvature and flat grind, the blade penetrates perfectly and provides very good cutting properties. The thickness of the blade at its widest point is 3.1 mm, which is a compromise between durability and functionality of the knife in everyday work. On the back of the blade are applied transverse cutters, which create a very stable place of support for the thumb or index finger. The advantages of this solution will be appreciated by every user of the knife during planing or precision cutting. The weight of the knife was reduced, among other things, by making a window in the blade, which gives it a futuristic look.
Quick unfolding
The blade is unfolded with one hand using a milled flipper, a solution convenient for both right- and left-handed users. KVT ball bearings are installed on the axis of the blade, thanks to which the blade runs very smoothly and dynamically, which every user will appreciate during everyday use.
Safe operation
The classic lin er-lock effectively protects against accidental folding of the head . When the blade is unfolded, the function of the lock is performed by a steel lining, which supports the rear part of the head and prevents it from folding. Liner-lock is prized for its simplicity, reliability and heavy-duty durability.
Skeletonized handle
The knife has moldedcarbon fiber liners reinforced with a steel strip (on one side). Paying homage to the 0999 model, the 0990 knife also employs an open-arch bridge. As a result, the knife weighs just 82 grams, allowing us to carry it comfortably on a daily basis. A treat that will please any knife collector is the Zero Tolerance logo embossed on the spacer.
Convertible clip
Discreet carrying of the knife in the pocket is made possible by a high-set clip with the possibility of mounting on both sides of the handle.
