TheFenix HM70R is a versatile headlamp that changes the current rules of the game. The HM70R headlamp has an all-metal construction, emits 1600 lumens, has a light range of up to 186 meters, and thanks to the use of the most capacious 21700 battery, its runtime can be as long as 100 hours. The headlamp's versatility is ensured by as many as 3 LED emitters of different colors, and thanks to the built-in USB-C port, the capacious power cell can be charged in just 4 hours. Such a modern headlamp, of course, did not lack a battery level indicator, IP68 waterproof housing and a comfortable headband with reflective inserts.
Headlamp resistant to falls from a height of 2 m
The flashlight has a sturdy and rugged body, made entirely of metal, so it passed the drop test from a height of almost 2 meters. The body is not only drop-proof, but also resistant to weather conditions and total immersion in water for 30 minutes (depth of 2 m). The headlamp has a compact and relatively lightweight design (206 g with battery) without external wires, so it can be used not only for many outdoor activities, but also for industrial work, workshop repairs and other demanding applications. Comfortable carrying of the flashlight on the head is provided by a rubber band equipped with reflective inserts to increase our visibility and safety when moving at night on the road or trail.
One flashlight, 3 colors of light
The flashlight's main light source is the powerful and economical at the same time SST40 LED, which emits a maximum stream of 1600 lumens with a cool color recommended for any application requiring intensity and maximum brightness. The light passes through a transparent lens with anti-reflective coating and reflected from a smooth reflector. This results in a highly concentrated beam with a working range of up to 186 meters.
In addition to the long-range emitter, the headlamp uses a smaller XP-G2 HE LED with a maximum flux of 400 lumens. The neutral-colored light it produces is evenly and efficiently dispersed by means of a collimating lens with a honeycomb structure. The neutral-color light faithfully reproduces the colors of the surroundings and does not fatigue the eyes, so it is widely used for industrial, workshop and electrical work, where the correct assessment of the color of a wire, fuse, etc. can be extremely important. To increase the versatility of the headlamp, the Fenix HM70R has an additional red light generated by 2 Everlight 2835 LEDs. The red light can be used for nighttime map reading, emergency signaling, and vision adaptation in total darkness. The flashlight's swivel head allows vertical adjustment of the light angle within 180°, so we can easily control the light beam as needed.
The largest rechargeable battery on the market
The Fenix HM70R is powered by the largest and most capacious lithium-ion cell on the market - the 21700 ARB-L21 5000 mAh, which provides up to 100 hours of operation in low 30 lumens mode, or up to 4 hours of total light time in Turbo mode (1600 lumens). The headlamp can also be powered by a popular 18650 cell, this only requires the purchase of an inexpensive ALF-18 adapter.
Built-in USB-C charger
The HM70R has a fast charging system via a discreetly hidden USB-C port. This practical and convenient solution allows you to charge the cell without the need for an additional charger. All you need is a standard USB-C cable and a power source such as a power bank, laptop, desktop computer or car charger with a USB port. The flashlight with a built-in USB-C port not only saves money (to buy a charger), most importantly, it provides convenience and the ability to charge anywhere. The high charging current of 2A allows you to fully charge the battery in just 4 hours. We access the charging port only after unscrewing the side switch, so the socket is properly protected from water, dust and dirt.
One button for everything
There is one enlarged button for operating the flashlight and changing modes, which can be comfortably operated even with winter and work gloves. Using the silicone button, we can not only easily turn the flashlight on and off, but also change the color and brightness of the light. The user has 4 modes of white light, 2 modes of neutral light and a steady and flashing red light mode. The switch has 2 additional functions that significantly increase the functionality of the flashlight. We are talking about the lock mode (holding the switch for 3 seconds) and the LED battery level indicator. During demanding work or exploration, it's a good idea to monitor the state of the battery, which is why the HM70R flashlight has a low-energy warning system and a simple indicator that informs the user about its condition (a feature that works only with the ARB-L21 5000 battery).
Battery level indications:
- constant green light: 100-85%,
- flashing green light: 85-50%,
- steady red light: 50-25%,
- flashing red light: 25-1%
Additional features
The Fenix HM70R headlamp is equipped with reverse polarity protection, protecting against incorrect battery installation. The manufacturer also used intelligent protection against overheating, a memory function for the last mode and a low battery warning. The flashlight features a high protection class IP68, which means it is resistant to dust, dust, heavy rain and even full immersion in water (2 m) for 30 minutes. Therefore, the HM70R can be successfully used in all weather conditions and work in harsh environments.
The presented parameters were obtained under laboratory conditions. Fenix ARB-ARB-L21 5000 mAh battery was used during testing.
