TheFenix HM60R is a trekking headlamp, equipped with a step frequency sensor that adjusts the brightness of the flashlight according to the speed at which you move.
The HM60R headlamp has an aluminum construction resistant to falling and immersion in water, a powerful light output of 1,200 lumens and a sensor that adjusts the brightness of the light, ideal for runners. The headlamp's versatility is ensured by up to 4 LED emitters of different colors, and thanks to the built-in USB-C port, we can charge the 18650 battery cell, in just 3 hours without the need for an additional charger. Such a modern headlamp, of course, did not lack a battery level indicator, IP68 waterproof housing and a comfortable headband with reflective inserts.
Headlamp resistant to falls from a height of 2 m
The flashlight has a rugged body, made entirely of aircraft-grade aluminum A6061-T6, so it passed the drop test from a height of almost 2 meters. The body is not only drop-proof, but also weatherproof and completely submerged in water for 4 hours (depth of 2 m). The headlamp has a compact and relatively lightweight design (157 g with battery) without external wires, so it can be used not only for many outdoor activities, but also for industrial work, workshop repairs and other demanding applications. Comfortable carrying of the flashlight on the head is provided by a rubber band equipped with reflective inserts to increase our visibility and safety when moving at night on the road or trail.
One flashlight, 3 colors of light
The flashlight's main light source is the powerful and economical at the same time SST40 LED, which emits a maximum output of 1200 lumens with a cool color recommended for any application requiring intensity and maximum brightness. The light passes through a transparent lens with anti-reflective coating and reflected from a smooth reflector. As a result, the beam is highly concentrated, with a working range of up to 116 meters.
In addition to the long-range emitter, the headlamp uses a smaller XP-G2 LED with a maximum flux of 350 lumens. The neutral-colored light it produces is evenly and efficiently dispersed by means of a collimating lens with a honeycomb structure. The neutral-color light faithfully reproduces the colors of the environment and does not fatigue the eyes, so it is widely used for industrial, workshop and electrical work, where the correct assessment of the color of a wire, fuse, etc. can be extremely important. To increase the versatility of the headlamp, the Fenix HM60R has an additional red light generated by 2 Everlight 2835 LEDs. The red light can be used for nighttime map reading, emergency signaling, and vision adaptation in total darkness. The flashlight's swivel head allows vertical adjustment of the light angle within 180°, so we can easily control the light beam as needed.
Rechargeable battery included
The Fenix HM60R is powered by the popular Fenix ARB-L18 18650 cell with a capacity of 2600 mAh, which provides up to 54 hours of operation in low 30 lumens mode, or up to 120 minutes of total illumination in Turbo mode (1200 lumens). The headlamp can also be powered by 2 CR123 batteries, which are particularly efficient in winter due to their resistance to low temperatures.
An ideal headlamp for runners
The flashlight uses an innovative solution in the form of a step frequency sensor, which adjusts the brightness of the headlamp as the speed at which you move increases. Running at 150 steps per minute, the flashlight emits light of 130 lumens. When you increase the pace to 220 steps per minute, the headlamp increases the output to 200 lumens. Thus, the faster you run, the more you see. Thanks to this functionality, the flashlight is perfect as a running headlamp, whether you are jogging, orienteering or long-distance mountain running.
Built-in USB-C charger
The HM60R has a fast charging system via a discreetly hidden USB-C port. This practical and convenient solution allows you to charge the cell without the need for an additional charger. All you need is a standard USB-C cable and a power source such as a power bank, laptop, desktop computer or car charger with a USB port. The flashlight with a built-in USB-C port not only saves money (for buying a charger), most importantly, it provides convenience and the ability to charge anywhere. The high charging current of 1.5 A allows you to fully charge the battery in just 4 hours. We access the charging port only after unscrewing the side switch, so the socket is properly protected from water, dust and dirt.
One button for everything
There is one enlarged button for operating the flashlight and changing modes, which can be comfortably operated even with winter and work gloves. Using the silicone button, we can not only easily turn the flashlight on and off, but also change the color and brightness of the light. The user has 4 modes of white light, 2 modes of neutral light and a steady and flashing red light mode. The switch has an additional function that significantly increases the functionality of the flashlight. We are talking about the LED battery level indicator. During demanding work or exploration, it's a good idea to monitor the state of the battery, so the HM60R flashlight has a low-energy warning system and a simple indicator that informs the user of its condition (a feature that works only with Fenix ARB-L18 series batteries).
Battery level indications:
- constant green light: 100-85%,
- flashing green light: 85-50%,
- steady red light: 50-25%,
- flashing red light: 25-1%
Additional features
The Fenix HM60R headlamp is equipped with reverse polarity protection, protecting against incorrect battery installation. The manufacturer also used intelligent protection against overheating, a memory function for the last mode and a low battery warning. The flashlight features a high protection class IP68, which means it is resistant to dust, dust, heavy rain and even full immersion in water (2 m) for 4 hours. Therefore, the HM60R can be successfully used in all weather conditions and work in harsh environments.
The presented parameters were obtained under laboratory conditions. Fenix ARB-ARB-L18 2600 mAh battery was used during testing.
