The body of the sight is made of 6061-T6 aluminum using a precision milling method, which makes its design resistant to overloading as much as 1000 g. The collimator is mounted on weapons with Picatinny or Weaver rails . The mounting is of absolute co-witness height , which means that the aiming mark of the collimator coincides with the line of the rifle's mechanical instruments. The Holosun HE512C-GD uses lenses coated with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings, which provide high light transmission and a clear and sharp image free of parallax error.
Variable aiming point
Thanks to the Multi Reticle System, the user can change the size and style of the aiming mark. You can choose between a classic 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA circle and a combination of dot and circle. Such functionality makes the collimator great for hunting, as well as for sport and tactical shooting. In the GD (Gold Dot ) series rifle scopes, the target mark is displayed in gold color. This innovative solution has 3 features that significantly differentiate it from the classic red and green dot:
- gold color is neutral for daltonists
- the target mark in gold color is more visible on yellow and green backgrounds
- Gold Dot makes it easier to distinguish the target mark from the green or red dot of a laser target indicator
All aiming marks are emitted by a single diode, so you don't lose zero when you change the reticle.The control system and diode are resistant to shock, weapon recoil (up to 1000 g) and weather conditions, so the device works efficiently and stably even in harsh field conditions.
Holosun solar-powered collimators
The collimator is powered by a CR2032 battery, which, according to the manufacturer, provides up to 50,000 hours of operation at a brightness setting of 6. The device additionally uses a Solar Failsafe solar panel, which in strong light (solar or artificial) supports the operation of the battery, is responsible for the automatic brightness adjustment of the aiming mark and replaces a discharged battery in an emergency situation. The user can use the automatic brightness adjustment or change the brightness independently have 10 daylight settings and 2 settings for night vision.
The impressive operating time of up to 50,000 hours, the device owes to the Shake Awake system, which automatically turns off the LED when there is no movement activity (after 10 minutes) .
