TheKershaw Kapsule 1190 is a compact OTF folder with a forward-extending blade designed by Jens Anso, a respected knifemaker from Denmark.
The Kershaw Kapsule 1190 has a forward-extending blade in the style of OTF automatic knives , but with the difference that both the extension and retraction of the blade are done manually.
Kershaw Kapsule 1190 - OTF folding knife with forward-extending blade
The flat ground blade is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel hardened to 57-59 HRC. The steel used has good corrosion resistance and hardenability comparable to AUS6. The 8Cr13MoV steel blade will be great for everyday use due to its resistance to corrosion, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening, for which a pocket whetstone is completely sufficient.
The 48mm-long blade is extended forward (Out The Front) by means of an aluminum slider aesthetically anodized in blue. The blade, with a symmetrical spear-point profile , has a single-sided cutting edge and a strong hilt, resistant to breakage and chipping. The Kershaw Kapsule 1190 has a handle of modern design, made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon. The striking milling of the handle and the use of lightweight material, make the knife comfortable and secure in the hand despite its compact size. Within the handle there are two practical solutions, an aluminum rope/braid clip and a high-set clip, allowing the knife to be carried discreetly in a pocket.
