The Benelli M2 Speed is an upgraded sporting rifle with the Inertia Driven System mechanics, featuring high ergonomics, reliability and lightweight construction for comfort and speed on the track. The M2 model features the proven Inertia Driven System mechanism and two new technologies to enhance ergonomics and comfort: AirTouch and ComfortTech. AirTouch is the way the grip and bed are finished. The characteristic porous texture increases grip, improves the grip and makes it easier to operate the weapon, which of course translates into comfort and the speed of folding for a shot. The second solution implemented is the ComforTech system, which is responsible for reducing the perceived recoil. This effect has been achieved by applying chevron-shaped elastomeric panels to the butt, which, together with the footplate, largely cushion the recoil energy transmitted to the shooter's arm. According to the manufacturer, the system reduces recoil sensation by 47%, weapon recoil by 32% and reduces the time it takes to fire a second shot by up to 34%. A slim textured shuttle is another element designed to improve the comfort and ease of use of the rifle.

The Inertia Driven System consists of several parts, which, thanks to its clever design, allows you to shoot ammunition with a smaller weight. This mechanism dispenses with the gas system, which not only increases the weight of the weapon, but is also more prone to fouling and jamming. In the inertial system, much less fouling from powder combustion enters the breech chamber during firing. It also has the advantage of automatically adjusting the breech opening time depending on the cartridge weight. All this contributes to the smooth and reliable operation of the rifle, which is why it is so widely and willingly chosen by sports shooters. The mechanics of the weapon is based on the recoil energy created during firing. The main element of the mechanics is the spring mechanism (recoil system), which prevents the breech from being disengaged during firing. After firing, the spring initiates the recoil and pushes the breech back into the rear position.

The shotgun is fed from an aluminum magazine with a capacity of 12 rounds. Stability and adequate rigidity of the connection to the barrel is provided by an aluminum clamp with a striking design. The shotgun has an enlarged reloading lever and a large breech drop button. The charging port has also been enlarged and widened, making it possible to load twin or quad loads (2 or 4 cartridges) without gunsmithing adjustments, which dynamic shooters usually undertake on their own after purchasing the weapon. The aluminum breech has a milled guide that facilitates quick loading of cartridges into the magazine. For aiming, there is a long fiber-optic musket, which catches the light perfectly, and a folding stock, useful when shooting slug ammunition. The sporting rifle, of course, could not lack interchangeable foreheads (Crio standard), which allow shooting at targets at different distances.
The sporting character of the rifle is strikingly emphasized by the red finish of the manipulators and links.
