TheVortex Diamondback HD 2000 is a laser rangefinder with HD optics ideal for hunters to quickly and accurately track a target up to 1,829 meters away.
The Vortex Diamondback HD 2000 is a hunting laser range finder with a long range of more than 1,800 meters, designed for hunters, long shot shooters and those looking for a precision distance measuring device. The Diamondback HD 2000 has 2 measurement modes: NORMAL, LAST, and two ways of distance measurement (LOS, HCD), which allow you to take any accurate shot in terrain with different slopes.
Vortex laser rangefinder - precision hunting rangefinder with lifetime VIP warranty
The Diamondback HD 2000 has maintained a compact and relatively lightweight design weighing only 215 grams, so this precision device can be conveniently carried around the neck or on a belt using a spring clip. The rangefinder has a plastic body with rubber armor, which protects the sensitive optics from damage in case of a fall and provides a stable and comfortable grip. The unit has diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece and a standard thread for tripod mounting. Using a tripod to stabilize the rangefinder increases the ability to measure small objects especially at longer distances.
The rangefinder is waterproof and can be used in harsh conditions, thanks to its thoroughly sealed construction, which prevents the ingress of moisture, dust and dirt.
TheDiamondback HD 2000 has a crystal-clear image regardless of lighting conditions, which it owes to the HD Vortex optics system coated with XR multilayer coatings. Anti-reflective coatings are applied to all air-to-glass surfaces, which affects high light transmission and ensures image brightness even in low light. The HD optics have exceptional resolution, effectively reduce chromatic aberration, ensure accurate color reproduction and sharp edge-to-edge field of view.
The lenses are protected from scratches and dirt by an ultra-hard ArmourTek coating.
Measurement results are emitted on a TOLED display with enhanced light transmission, optimized for rangefinder use in low-light conditions. The contrasting red backlight is great for when you want to measure a dark target. The 7× magnification optics have wide fields of view for comfortable observation and tracking of moving objects.
The device's greatest advantages include a powerful range of more than 1,800 meters (the maximum measurement range for a target that reflects the laser beam well) and an unprecedented measurement accuracy of 0.9 meters. The 24mm diameter lens has an angular field of view of 6.4°, and the minimum measurement distance is only 4.5 meters.
Diamondback HD 2000 measurement parameters:
- Maximum measurement range for objects that reflect the laser beam well: 1829 m
- Measurement range for objects that reflect the laser beam less well, e.g. trees, rocks: 1646 m
- Measurement range for objects that reflect the laser beam poorly, e.g. deer: 1189 m
The rangefinder uses HCD (Horizontal Component Distance) angular compensation technology to enable accurate shooting at critical distances. It is also worth noting that the Vortex Diamondback HD 2000 has a simple and intuitive menu that takes a few minutes to master. Only 2 buttons are used to operate the device, i.e. the measurement switch and the button that activates the rangefinder menu. The measurement is expressed in 2 units, i.e. meters or yards.
A CR2 battery is used to power the device, which provides up to 1000 individual measurements. To extend the battery life, the rangefinder automatically shuts off after 20 seconds of inactivity. Replacing the battery is easy and requires no tools, thanks to a convenient flip-open tab.
When the battery level drops to 25%, a notification appears on the display to remind you to change the power source. The user can customize the backlight level, choosing from 5 brightness levels.
The Vortex Diamondback HD 2000 offers the following measurement modes:
NORMAL- displays the distance of the actual aiming point
LAST- displays the distance to the object in the background
HCD- displays distance measurement mode to a target located on the same plane as the rangefinder
LOS- angular compensation mode for working with ballistic calculator.
How to use the rangefinder functions?
NORMAL- The rangefinder is factory set to NORMAL mode when turned on. This is the standard mode for most applications, providing precise measurement of highly distant objects.
LAST MODE- a mode for long-distance measurement, ideal for tracking a small target behind a group of large objects such as game behind trees, rocks, etc.
LOS (The Line from Sight) - a special measurement mode designed for long-shot shooters who shoot at distances above 457 meters (500 yards) in terrain with a slope of more than 15 degrees, using tables, calculators or ballistic applications that correct bullet drop. Range measurement in LOS mode is measured without ballistic correction for terrain slope. Most ballistic applications and calculators provide an independent slope correction for bullet drop, so they require an indication of actual distance. When shooting a long distance in steep terrain, LOS mode allows calculation of the projectile's windage correction with much higher accuracy than using HCD measurement.
HCD-is the primary mode used in shooting and archery. The measurement expresses the actual distance to a target located on the same plane as the shooter. The displayed HCD distance is corrected for the angle of the shot and does not require additional corrections by the shooter. Applications of HCD mode:
- rifle shooting on level ground at any distance
- shooting a rifle at a distance of up to 640 m (800 yards) on terrain with a gentle slope (less than 15 degrees)
- rifle shooting up to a distance of 366 m (400 yards) in terrain with a moderate slope (15 to 30 degrees)
- archery shooting
