The uppers of the boots are made of natural nubuck leather and secured with a wide rubber collar (around the boot) to protect the feet during hunting and trekking in difficult terrain. The boots have 7" (18 cm) high uppers, a padded ankle, a comfortable insole and reinforced soles with extra cushioning in the middle, which increases comfort and reduces foot fatigue during prolonged walking. The specialized Vibram sole with a non-slip protector makes it easier to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces. The shoes also have a shock-absorbing midsole, which ensures long-distance walking comfort even on very uneven ground. Despite the sturdy leather upper and massive sole, the shoes are relatively lightweight, with one shoe weighing just 740 g (weight for size 43).

The Härkila Saxnäs GTX Mid uses Sierra's waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex membrane to keep feet dry even in heavy rain or marching through snow. The membrane not only protects the boots from getting wet, it is also responsible for wicking the moisture released by the feet to the outside. All Härkila shoes with Gore-Tex membrane are water tested to verify their water resistance.

Footwear with Gore-Tex membrane is designed for trekking and hunting in difficult mountainous terrain where the wearer is exposed to variable weather conditions. The Härkila Saxnäs GTX Mid provides high waterproofing, ventilation and good insulation necessary for lower temperature activities.
