KelTec P17 Compact 22LR - a pistol for cheap training.
Kel-Tec is an American gun manufacturer that stands out from the market competition with a completely different approach to its products. This is because Kel-Tec primarily focuses on design innovation, functionality, reliability and, most importantly for shooters, an extremely friendly pricing policy. A perfect example of this philosophy, is the Kel-Tec P17, a compact side-firing pistol at the price of a blow-back airgun. The pistol combines the most important features of a good weapon: accuracy, functionality and reliability, with an element of great fun and pleasure derived from shooting this inexpensive and inconspicuous weapon.

The P17 has a polymer frame, which, of course, translates into its light weight (only 306 g) and comfort of use. The weapon, which operates on the principle of free breech recoil, uses the so-called partial breech. Thanks to this design, only the rear part of the weapon (the steel lock) moves during shooting. The sights move with the recoil of the breech, so the weapon allows you to train the same skills (ripping the sighting instruments after shooting) as in a centerfire weapon. The pistol has two-sided manipulators: magazine latch and wing fuse, so the weapon can be used comfortably by right- and left-handed people. The manufacturer has equipped the pistol with a Picatinny rail, an enlarged breech, a textured grip with a well-matched angle, and sporting sighting instruments: a fiber-optic bow-tie and a vertically/horizontally adjustable pinpoint. Tuning enthusiasts will be pleased to know that we can also mount an exhaust device of our choice to the weapon (1/2" × 28 adapter included). Partial disassembly of the weapon is simple and does not require the use of tools, making it easy to clean the gun. The gun is powered by a 17-round magazine (3 included), so the gun can be successfully used for dynamic training. Deserving special praise is the refined trigger mechanism (weight 1.3 kg), which is distinguished by a short idle movement, a noticeable wall with a slight break and a short reset.
