The Zero Tolerance ZT 0006 is a large tactical knife with a fixed head, inspired by Mick Strider's ZT-9 bayonet design.
The Kershaw ZT 0006 knife was designed for tactical applications, but the functional and durable fixed design make it suitable for other extreme activities, e.g. survival, bushcraft.
Zero Tolerance ZT 0006 - a rugged tactical knife for extreme applications
The Kershaw ZT 0006 tactical knife has a full-tang (full shank) construction, which means that it is made from a single piece of steel. Knives with such construction are extremely resistant to damage and are not afraid of hard work, which is why they are commonly used by survival and bushcraft enthusiasts, as well as hunters and soldiers. The blade is made of hard CPM-3V tool steel, surpassing in strength most steels used for factory-made knives. Powdered CPM-3V steel is hardened to a hardness of 60-62 HRC, and is also characterized by great toughness, resistance to wear, cracking and chipping. The performance of this steel is similar to the premium S7 and A9 steels, CPM-3V, is also a great alternative to A2, D2 and CPM M4. Utility CPM 3V steel is not a stainless steel, so it is worth taking proper care of proper maintenance of the blade during use. When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
The head, with a typically working drop-point profile, has an optimal length of 152 mm and a thickness of nearly 5 mm, so the knife will be useful for both meal preparation and wood batoning. Transverse frets have been made on a section of the back, providing a solid point of support for the thumb. The blade has a flat grind, which provides an excellent compromise between durability and cutting smoothness. The blade has a so-called stonewashed finish, which is done by bathing the head in gravel or small abrasive stones. Protection against corrosion is provided by a colorless Cerakote ceramic coating.
The facings attached to the bolt with steel screws are made of hard G10 plastic. Fine texturing makes the Zero Tolerance ZT 0006 tactical knife stable in the hand and comfortable to use. It comes with a kydex sheath mounted on a nylon panel. The pouch can be worn at the waist, attached to the armor, and with the use of additional straps (not included) can be comfortably stabilized on the thigh. A metal clasp fastener protects the tool from slipping out or being lost.
