Civivi Altus is an EDC folding knife with a drop point head. The folder is characterized by careful workmanship and handiness, and thanks to the Nitro-V steel blade, very good cutting properties. The aforementioned features, as well as a double-sided clip and Button Lock, with the possibility of gravity opening, will make the knife appeal to even demanding lovers of sharpened steel.
Nitro-V
The Civivi Altus blade is made of Nitro-V, a stainless, martensitic steel with a high chromium content. The alloy was enriched with nitrogen and vanadium. This increased the hardness of the material, while reducing susceptibility to corrosion. Because of the last property, Nito V is used for tools used in humid environments. The steel performs very well as a material used in the production of tactical, hunting and EDC knives. The steel is hardened to 58-60 HRC.
Civivi Altus - head
Altus has a blade of the widely used and proven Drop Point type. The pronounced belly, combined with a high and concave grind, makes the knife cut perfectly. A section of the blade's back is covered with the so-called upper jimping, a notch that allows the thumb to rest safely. This makes it easier to manipulate the folder, especially during work that requires greater precision and leverage. The head is finished using the Silver Bead Blasted method.
Bearings and button lock
The folder is equipped with ceramic ball bearings, which significantly support the operation of the knife's opening mechanism. The folder has a button lock, which can be released by pressing a button located on one of the facings. Under the lock button is a spring, providing enough resistance to avoid accidental opening.
The knife can be opened in two ways: by gravity, when the lock is released, or by using the thumb stud.
It is worth adding that thanks to the button lock the knife can be simply played with, which is a lot of fun.
Civivi Altus - handle
The handle of the Civivi Altus is made of blue-dyed G10 plastic. This fiberglass and synthetic resin composite is lightweight and not susceptible to mechanical damage. Smoothed edges of the facings and a fore finger groove improve grip confidence and make the knife fit well even in tired and sweaty hands. Thanks to the open backed design, the tool can be cleaned and oiled without much trouble.
Double-sided clip and case
The manufacturer also took care of convenient transportation of the knife, equipping it with a double-sided clip. It was constructed in such a way that the tool almost does not protrude from the pocket and is not conspicuous.
The folder can also be carried in a zippered nylon case.
