CPM-154 powder steel
The Benchmade 15500-04 Meatcrafter is a lightweight fixed (fixed head) with full tang construction. Knives made from a single piece of steel (full tang) are resistant to damage and breakage, so they are commonly used for heavier ones by hunters, survival and bushcraft enthusiasts and soldiers. The knife has a thin blade (2.3 mm) with a length of 154 mm, made of hard CPM-154 powder steel with a hard ness of 58-61 HRC. CPM-154 is a stainless steel with a high content of carbon, chromium and molybdenum, which provides an ideal balance between corrosion and wear resistance, strength and hardness Thanks to such properties, CPM-154 steel is ideal for a hunting knife for skinning, a kitchen knife and an outdoor knife. The blade is finished using the Stonewash method.
Hunting knife for skinning
The Benchmade 15500-04 Meatcrafter uses a Trailing Point type blade. The characteristic feature of such a blade is a slightly raised tip above (or in line with) the back of the knife. The flexible head modeled after oriental scimitars has a blade with a distinctly exposed belly, which contributes to excellent performance and ease of cutting. Thanks to its 28° SelectEdge™ technology (14° per side), the knife has a thin, perfectly sharp cutting edge that excels at precision cutting, slicing, filleting and boning meat. As a result, the Meatcrafter guarantees extremely clean cuts and causes much less force to be put into the work being done.
Benchmade 15500-04 Meatcrafter-04 - comfortable grip
The knife's handle is made of rubberized santoprene plastic with non-slip texturing that ensures a good grip even when wearing gloves. A transverse milling has been made on the back of the handle to create a stable point of support for the fingers. This simple convenience allows the knife to be handled comfortably and accurately, which is crucial for a hunter when gutting game. The contoured tang has a transverse groove and a safety cord clip. Loss of the knife in the field is also prevented by the bright orange color of the handle, which makes it easy to find the knife even in dense vegetation.
Polymer sheath
For safe carrying of the knife there is a sheath made of Boltaron, a thermoplastic material with high resistance to damage, temperature and moisture. The sheath is compatible with the Tek-lok mounting buckle.
