The Leupold 5HD is an advanced optical spotting scope that is as much as 500g lighter than other spotting scopes in its class. The scope can be used on hunting rifles as well as long shot rifles.
The scope has a 35mm diameter aluminum (6061-T6) tube, which provides a large adjustment range of 29/23 MIL vertical and horizontal reticle settings. On the eyepiece is a moleskin ring with an enlarged lever for quick and convenient magnification changes. The tube of the scope is filled with a patented mixture of gases (argon and krypton), which eliminates the effects of thermal shock, reduces the diffusion of gases inside the scope and completely eliminates the problem of internal lens evaporation. The waterproofing technology used guarantees 100% weather resistance, so it can be used regardless of the weather. The scope underwent rigorous testing on the Punisher simulation machine, during which the scopes were subjected to 5,000 recoil-induced overload tests. During the first rotation, the button protrudes from the dial. On the second full revolution, the button aligns with the dial. On the other hand, at the third revolution the button hides inside the dial, which is indicated by a protruding pin on the cover of the drum disc. The indicators used are perfectly visible and perceptible even in the dark.
