The Walther EDK 2 folding knife is a modernized version of the successful EDK design, which, thanks to its versatile design and the use of a slipjoint lock, is an extremely versatile model that will be perfect for everyday use. The use of 440C steel translates into good sharpness retention while ensuring a very high level of rustproofness, which will be appreciated with long-term use of the model.
Classic unfolding
The blade is unfolded using a peg, which allows us to open with the thumb of one hand. After unfolding, the blade is locked with the help of a slip joint mechanism . When the blade is unfolded, the role of locking is performed by a dorsal spring, which rests on the back of the blade, thus preventing its folding. This solution is valued for its simplicity, reliability and resistance to heavy loads. This classic solution is a decades-old solution used in pocket knives, among others, and allows legal carry in most EU countries.
The ideal EDC knife
The 90mm long blade, extended in the new version, is made of 440C stainless steel hardened to 59 HRC. Resistance to wear and corrosion, good sharpness retention and ease of sharpening make the 440C steel blade great for everyday use. It is worth noting that a pocket ceramic sharpener is sufficient for sharpening such steel. The blade is finished with satin finish (polishing), which eliminates glare and masks scratches caused by the use of the knife. The blade, with a utilitarian drop-point profile, has a flat grind, a strong stab, and a cutting edge with a gentle curve, thanks to which the knife provides good cutting properties and high penetration.
