The replacement viewfinder in black is covered with a polycarbonate coating, which largely protects the optics from scratches. An Antifog layer was applied to the inside of the glass, minimizing evaporation of the glasses. The glass has high ballistic strength in accordance with STANAG 2920 and 4296 standards, which is why the glasses are very popular with soldiers, police officers, sports shooters, and airsoft players.
