TheKershaw Steppe 2048 knife is an ideal EDC (Every Day Carry)tool with Full Tang construction, a head made of D2 hard tool steel and a comfortable polypropelene handle.
Kershaw Steppe designed for heavy duty use
The Kershaw Steppe 2048 has a Full Tang (full shank) construction, which means it is made from a single piece of steel. Knives with such a construction are extremely resistant to damage and are not afraid of hard work, which is why they are commonly used by survival and bushcraft enthusiasts, as well as hunters and soldiers.
Theknife is cut from hard D2 carbon steel, which cuts very aggressively, has high abrasion and wear resistance and long working sharpness, so it will be perfect even as an outdoor tool and EDC knife.
Highly hardened D2 steel, despite being a carbon steel, also has high corrosion resistance, thanks to its increased chromium content and vanadium admixture.
When choosing a knife made of such steel, it is worth getting a diamond sharpener, as sharpening with a standard ceramic whetstone can be very labor-intensive and inefficient.
Kershaw Steppe equipped with a special hole to improve control over the knife
The head, with a typically versatile Drop Point profile, is 90 mm long and 3.3 mm thick, so the knife will be useful for both meal preparation and wood batoning. Transverse cutters have been made on a section of the back, providing a solid point of support for the thumb.
In addition, the blade has a special hole cut in it, which allows you to flip your finger for better control when operating the knife.
The blade has a very practical finish called Stonewashed, which is done by bathing the blade in gravel or small abrasive stones. The resulting irregular texture masks scratches and abrasions from use very well.
Comfortable grip of the EDC knife
The rubberized polypropylene facings are attached to the shank with 2 steel screws. The contoured shape of the handle, the thumb cutout and the checkered texturing ensure a stable and comfortable grip on the knife. There is a hole in the back of the handle, which we can use as a clip for a lanyard or paracord tail.
