The carbine is based on the Direct Impingment gas system, in which powder gases are discharged through a side opening in the barrel directly onto the slide. The use of this system makes the weapon characterized by low weight. The breech and trigger chamber, standard for AR-15 carbines, is made of milled aluminum coated with a durable coating created by the anodizing process.
The LFA Battle Rifle has been equipped with an 11.5-inch-long barrel, which provides very good maneuverability in CQB operations in a small space. The surface of the barrel has been subjected to a nitriding process, to protect it from harmful factors - primarily the corrosive effects of the gases produced during the combustion of gunpowder. The barrel is finished with a thread with a factory-installed Birdcage-type flame suppressor.
