The carbine is based on the Direct Impingment gas system, in which powder gases are discharged through a side opening in the barrel directly onto the slide. The use of this system makes the weapon characterized by low weight. The breech and trigger chamber, standard for AR-15 carbines, is made of milled aluminum covered with a durable coating created by the anodizing process.
The LFA Battle Rifle is equipped with a 14.5-inch-long barrel, which is a successful compromise between maneuverability and ensuring adequate bullet velocity. The surface of the barrel was subjected to a nitriding process, to protect it from harmful factors - primarily the corrosive effect of gases produced during the combustion of gunpowder. The barrel is finished with a thread with a factory-installed Birdcage-type flame suppressor.
